Aegean Regatta 2023 - Fourth Day (Video)
- Published in News 2023
The Maritime Museum is located in the center of the port, on the coastal road, very close to the ship's approach point. It is a true jewel of the island, founded in 1965, to house ship models, half-models, paintings, nautical instruments, documents and books, all related to the maritime tradition of Oinousses. Through the excellently designed spaces, the visitor has the opportunity to travel to the times when the Inoussio sailing ships plowed the Black Sea and the Mediterranean and their worthy captains prospered in trade and shipping. It has attracted thousands of visitors from Greece and abroad to date. Its rare exhibits, its many and important paintings testify to the phases of the commercial shipping of Oinousses. From the steam-powered sailing ships, the sacrifices in the naval arena, the post-war transition to the liberties, which CLASSIFIED the Aignoussians in the international maritime world, up to today's large fleets. A remarkable and rare collection, unique in Greece, consisting of elaborate ship models.

Welcome to Lesvos, a majestic UNESCO Geopark with volcanic structures, wetlands and thermal springs, with its over 20-million-year-old Petrified Forest in Sigri and its more than 11 million olive trees. Lesvos is the land where Aristotle once roamed, studying its unique flora and fauna and founded Biology and Scientific Methodology, and today is a paradise for bird watchers, with more than 250 species of birds recorded in the salt pans of Kalloni Bay, otherwise known as “Aristotle’s Lagoon”.
With an impressive coastline that stretches for almost 370 km, Sea & sun lovers will discover that Lesvos offers countless options for relaxing by the sea for everyone, from rocky, pebble, or sandy beaches, either organized and lined with cafes, bars and taverns, to remote and unspoilt locations, where you can be “one” with nature. And for the more adventurous, don’t miss spending a day scuba diving, doing water sports or sailing!
