Greeting from the Deputy Minister of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy, Mr. Stefanos Gkikas

With great pleasure, I extend my greetings to AEGEAN REGATTA 2026, an institution that this year marks 25 years and brings together our maritime tradition with the modern dynamism of insular Greece, showcasing the Aegean as a space of sport, cooperation, and outward-looking engagement.

This year’s route, starting from Chios (Limnia–Volissos) and continuing to Fournoi and Agathonisi, before concluding in Samos (Marathokampos), is a unique journey to island destinations with a strong historical and cultural heritage.

Beyond being a sporting event that highlights teamwork and fair competition, AEGEAN REGATTA is also an opportunity to promote the beauty of our islands and support local communities.

The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy actively supports this year’s event as well, through the General Secretariat for the Aegean and Island Policy, in cooperation with the Offshore Committee of the Hellenic Sailing Federation.

Warm congratulations to the organizations supporting this effort, to the volunteers, and to the local authorities of our islands hosting the event. Above all, congratulations to all participants who honor the waters of the Aegean with their competitive presence!

I wish every success to the event, safe and successful races, and fair winds to all crews.

Stefanos Gkikas

Deputy Minister of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy
